Ethiopia Mission 2018

It was a great privilege to be invited to Ethiopia by Gerald Cotzen and El Shaddai television. As Gerald says, 'Ethiopia is a country of history, mystery and destiny' and this is very true. Part of the history of Ethiopia is the Jewish connection which goes back 3000 years to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Also the Christian connection goes back to the Ethiopian eunuch (see Acts 8: 27) and the disciple Matthew (Levi) who according to tradition went to Ethiopia. Ethiopia today has a strong Christian presence (25% evangelical and 40% orthodox) but also a significant Jewish population. The Jews, as in many parts of the world have been discriminated against and treated very badly. There are now around 150,000 Ethiopian Jews living in Israel and many still in Ethiopia waiting to go. Over recent years ministries like Jewish voice have taken medical camps to Ethiopia and have seen many Jewish people (and others) come to faith in Jesus as the Messiah.

Our invitation was to speak at a conference organised by the evangelical churches in Gondar and El Shaddai television. The subject was 'God's Plan and Purpose for Israel' and the whole conference with all the teachings and a question and answer session will be shown on El Shaddai television. During the 8 days we were there we preached and taught 11 times so it was a very busy time but extremely blessed by the Lord.

At the 3 day conference were around 120 leaders from the various churches in Gondar including some from the Messianic congregation. One of the highlights of the conference was during a time of prayer when the Messianic congregation leaders were invited forward and leaders from the evangelical churches publicly repented and asked forgiveness on behalf of the nation for the way the Jews had been treated. After this it was as if something broke in the spiritual atmosphere and great joy was released that turned into dancing.

We were also blessed to minister at the Messianic congregation's Shabbat meal service and several were healed of back pain following a word of knowledge. On the Sunday the 3 of us ministered in different churches including a former Mennonite church and Full Gospel churches. We were impressed by the depth and passion in the prayer life of the churches. During our visit the Prime Minister of Ethiopia resigned and the churches went to prayer immdeiately and days of fasting were called.

Our last ministry time was at a conference for rural evangelists in Addis Ababa and this was also very powerful. The connection that Ethiopia has with Israel is amazing and it was an amazing privilege to have a part in what God He is doing. The whole conference realized that we are living in strategic times when prophetic Scriptures are being fulfilled, 'It shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left, from Assyria and Egypt from Pathros and ETHIOPIA....He will assemble the outcasts of Israel and gather together the dispersed of Judah from FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH.' Isaiah 11: 11 - 12

After the Babylonian exile, the Jews only returned from Babylon and only in the past 150 years or so has this Scripture begun to be fulfilled. All glory to God!

Earthquake Relief Work

The earthquake has caused tremendous devastation in Nepal and the aftershocks have continued for several weeks. Many are very traumatised and are frightened to return to the buildings in case of more shocks.  In the midst of all this through the generousity of many we have been able to send over £18,000 pounds to our pastor friend Min Raj. He and his team have been travelling to some mountainous areas to provide very much needed relief. This includes food, blankets, tents as well as building materials to help rebuild some  of the demolished buildings.  Some pictures of the relief work are shown below:
